Cub Scout Pack 99 Plans Skating Party
Cub Scout Pack 99 of Jefferson School met at 7 30 p m Wednesday at the school. The meeting opened with a flag ceremony by the new boys of the Pack. A skating party replaces the January meet, to be held January 7 from 7 to 10 p m as a pack activity. Denes decorated a Christmas tree with handmade ornaments while carols were sung. A skit was presented by parents including Richard Pagel Gary Noret Mrs Pete Sotores and Mrs Kemp Leonard Longhurst Larry Hall and Dr Cotler. Boys and mothers played games and Pete Sotores conducted a scrambled word game. Awards: denner badges to David Stewart Mathew Evans Kerry Ritz Robert Reeding. Assistant denner badges to Steven Stuart Mike Hagens Tom Fry and Larry Stauffer. Wolf Badge and gold arrow to Danny Dietz. Three silver arrows to Greg Hafner citizen craftsman engineer and scientist badges to Mike Dealer recruiter badge to Jeff Longhurst best pin and a wolf book to Mark Weirshaurer. Craftsman badge awarded to Paul Ales Jim Coder Ricky Gray Jeff Pagel Jeff Elder John Wittaker and Mark Ward. Jeff Elder also received a two year pin. Door prize went to Mrs Gary Noret. Meeting closed with Silent Night. A grab bag followed with refreshments served by Mrs Deahyr Mrs Hagens and Mrs Kemp.

Muscatine County approves minor compensation trustee
The Muscatine County Board met in adjourned session approving a trustee for Workman’s Compensation for minors and incompetents. They set hearings for rezoning 2.5 acres in Wilton Township from Industrial to A1 Agricultural at 10 00 AM, 10 30 AM, and 11 00 AM. A low culvert bid of 48 659.66 from Gerritt Construction Co. was accepted. Further actions included tax suspensions on real estate for Old Age Assistance recipients and contract approvals for SN-3050(2)-51-70 projects and a bridge bill of sale to the Conservation Board for one dollar.

New United Jet Service Adds San Francisco to Quad City
United Air Lines announces a new 727 jet schedule from San Francisco to the Quad City Airport with Flight 172 starting December 15. The 3:30 p.m. departure stops at Omaha and Des Moines, arrives at Quad City at 10:37 p.m., then continues to Chicago O'Hare arriving at 11:40 p.m. This expands coast to coast all jet service for the Quad City area.
