A five member attendance plan and team captains are adopted, to run through 1909 ending with a banquet for the winning side. An oyster supper is planned Tuesday night by the Men’s Baptist club.

The National League opened an inquiry after alleged attempts to bribe the umpires at the October 8 Polo Grounds game that decided the 1908 championship between New York and Chicago. A committee led by John T. Brush was named to probe, with possible criminal action discussed and details not disclosed.

Firemen fought the flames from a distance due to hydrant lack, unloading 1200 feet of Kaiser hose and tying with Roach company to deliver water. The Kaiser and Roach teams saved the dwelling and adjacent buildings. Loss estimated at 500 to 800 dollars. faulty flue suspected. The Blessing brothers own the house.
