Young Man’s Marriage License Ordeal Ends in Vows
Clyde W. Lucas sought a marriage license at the county clerk’s office on Saturday. The clerk demanded parental consent for a 15 or 16 year old bride, prompting delays until the mother could be summoned. The affidavit was signed, and Lucas married Miss Louise Oliver that evening at the bride’s mother’s home at 7 o’clock.

Chanukah to be celebrated in Muscatine with special services
Beginning December 18 the Jews of Muscatine will observe Chanukah at the Jewish Synagogue on Spring Street. The ancient festival recalls the Maccabean rededication after Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the temple in Jerusalem and is marked by candles, offering a local observance of this Festival of Lights.
