Officers pursue Harry Jones after a ghastly crime in which bodies were found on the bedroom floor in pools of blood. A coroner's jury finds Jones guilty of the deed and the club is identified as the weapon.
A newlywed couple William and May Van Winkle were found dead in their Fairport cottage early Dec 4 1907. Suspect Harry Jones alias Frank Burt fled. posse and state aid planned as coroner and sheriff seek the killer amid a village outbreak of fear.
Chicago banks hold about 300 million dollars in cash across savings and national institutions. The reserve exceeds 25 percent of deposits under national banking law. Comptroller Ridgley cited a nationwide rise in cash ready at call in national banks. In Washington, a House Banking Committee subcommittee was authorized to draft a currency bill to address the financial situation.
In Maryland near Hanover twelve miles west of Baltimore, a rear end crash between local Baltimore & Ohio trains left three people dead and about twenty injured. The rear train struck a stationary coach after a broken rail delayed the first train near Jessups.
