Social Security Questions Answers Explained
A reader asks about retirement and earnings limits. The SSA notes you can receive full payments for months with no earnings over 140 and that annual rules allow payment for months with low earnings. Earning up to 1660 per year does not affect payments, while earning over 1680 reduces benefits until earnings exceed 2880. Regardless, if you do not earn above 140 in a month, you receive that month's benefit.
