River excursion from Muscatine sails amid crowd and laughter
Despite cloudy weather the farm bureau boat left Muscatine with 2100 aboard. About 2700 tickets sold, crowds surged to the landing at 8:30 and 8:50, latecomers boarded as the boat pulled away. An attempted dash for the gang plank ended with a ducking and a comical rescue. Reminiscences of past days drew laughter as a spring wagon load of a farm family arrived for the trip.
