Weather favorable for farm work encourages thrashing progress
The Des Moines weekly weather and crop service bulletin reports generally favorable conditions with rapid thrashing and stacking. Temperatures were slightly below normal, little rain in eastern districts caused moisture shortages for corn and pastures, while southern and central areas saw heavy showers and good pasture conditions. Winter wheat yields strong, oats below average but improving over last year. Fall plowing has begun in areas with adequate moisture. Geo. M. Chappel, Section Director.
