Grace church awards for Sunday school attendance

The Conesville Grace United Church of Christ honored members for perfect Sunday school attendance with awards for one, three, and eight years. The ceremony, a local gathering, listed recipients including Julie Murdock Brian Reinhard and several families attending a wide range of reunions and social events in Muscatine Columbus Junction and surrounding areas. Attendees included numerous relatives traveling from Cedar Falls San Francisco Tacoma and Wapello among others.

Fowler couple to be honored for 50 years in ministry

Dr William J Fowler and his wife Mrs Fowler are to be recognized Sunday Aug 11 by Columbus United Methodist churches for fifty years in the ministry and their approaching sixty year wedding anniversary Their first appointment was in 1900 and they ended pastoral work at Crawfordsville in 1959 before retiring in Columbus Junction They received a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1930 for scholarly work and pastoral excellence and were named Parents of the Year at Iowa Wesleyan College Their career also featured a feature on Our Lively Elders.

Miss Jane Greene left Sumday afternoon for Carlisle to join the United Methodist Youth Travel Tour. The ten day trip includes Morningside College Sioux City Westmer College LeMars visits to Mitchell Corn Palace reservations and church missions across the Black Hills plus Mount Rushmore and Omaha Mission Center. Jane is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Greene.

Fowlers to Be Honored at Columbus Community Service

Dennis Wiese has been discharged from the Air Force at Tinker AFB Oklahoma and is visiting Sacramento. Margaret Noete of Washington DC spent Tuesday overnight with cousin Lelia Lintner.
