A swindler linked to the notorious George, recently jailed in Louisa County, was seen in our city this morning but left on the early train with the marshal. Earlier, Davenport men arrived to string a cable for the Town Telephone Co and will stay about a week.
Coneville council discussed renting a radar unit to check traffic speeds at a meeting on Aug 1. The 1974 budget would mirror 1973. A petition from Grace United Church of Christ Women’s Fellowship sought Sunday tavern closures for potential use. Minutes from July were approved. Bills paid included Roush Sinclair 30.32, Columbus Insurance 10, Prairie Road Builders 1000, John Gartzke 150, Charles Frack 66.53, Cheryl Van Dyke 50. Next meeting set for Sept 5 at 7 p.m. at town hall.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Zierenberg returned from Mundelein Illinois to attend the wedding of their grandson Dennis Freyermuth and Carol Curles at the United Methodist church on July 28. New members Mrs Neva Mills and Mrs Marie Hurley took the fourth degree obligation. August tray favors for Hawker Nursing Home were shown. Scott Tucker reported on Junior Grange Camp. A national Grange newsletter displayed sewing contest winners with Marie Williams Barbara Tucker Art and Gertrude Black Gary Lanfier Mildred Porter Harold Carter Marcia Lanfier Winifred Maxwell and Jerry Lanfier. Door prizes went to Mildred Porter and Jerry Lanfier. The needlework contest is set for Sept 1 with a noon potluck.

The Board of Water and Light Trustees of Muscatine Iowa will hold a meeting September 4 1973 at 8 15 p m to consider adopting plans and specs for one 67 13 8Y 7 960 kv power transformer and four padmount transformers. Bids may be submitted for part or all items and approval may occur within thirty days. Specifications are on file for inspection. Completion of contract by August 1 1974.
