Washington school PTA sponsors a safety program placing white placards with a blue star and letter A in windows across the district. Mothers serving as Black Mothers will aid children exposed to danger and coordinate with police and school authorities. A meeting on April 9 at 10 a.m. at the school will brief participating families.

Country and Western Jamboree Planned at Muscatine High School
Fred Brown president of the iCountry and Western Music Association says plans are complete for a Country and Western Jamboree at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Muscatine High School auditorium. Proceeds will aid the Salvation Army for flood relief refreshments. The show draws from about 40 member bands.

Duane McDowell 12 of East Moline remains in serious condition at University Hospitals Iowa City after a fatal crash Sunday near Muscatine that killed his stepfather Victor Davis Son 46 of Rock Island when a station wagon was ripped by a side impact on U.S. 61 before 7 p.m. Gary Simatovich 24 of Davenport had his hearing moved to Thursday in Muscatine County Court. he faces charges of leaving the scene of the accident.

Two Charges Filed After Fatal Muscatine Wreck
Police charged John W. Young 22 of Muscatine with failure to yield the right of way and driving with a suspended license after a fatal crash on Park Avenue at 5th Street in Muscatine. Evans serves aboard Duluth off Vietnam coast
Chief Electronics Technician Robert A. Evans USN son of Mr and Mrs Fred C Evans of 619 Jackson St and husband of Mae J Alten of Muscatine is serving aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Duluth off Vietnam. Crewmembers recently celebrated the 4000th helicopter landing on the ship's flight deck during deployment helicopters aboard the Duluth have airlifted over 2000 Marines and 284 tons of ammunition and supplies ashore.
