Ramshaw Hatchery Buys Nephi Plant to Merge operations

W O Ramshaw Hatchery completes purchase of Nephi Community Hatchery and plans to move the Nephi plant to Murray on Monday Nov 4. The combined Ramshaw facilities will form the largest modern hatchery west of the Mississippi with estimated value around 40000 dollars excluding real estate. The firms hatch about 1 million chicks last year and expect over 12 million this year as eggs are produced by 2004 hens, mainly Salt Lake County stock, supporting a seven to six staff across Murray and Provo locations. Former Smelter Supt Dies in Los Angeles

Leonard Austin a prominent metallurgist and former Murray Utah smelter superintendent died in Los Angeles at age 54 after graduating Yale in 1888. Survived by widow Mrs Austin and sister Mrs Lucy Haxton. nephew John Fuller Austin, superintendent of the Murray smelter. Funeral services were held at Mt Olivet Cemetery after arrival in Salt Lake City.

Marshall Caldwell uncovered a hidden distillery at 5750 South 6th West, locating a gallon and twelve gallons of fire water at the Kesler home after following a tip. Pete Genelos was arrested for possession, marking a second arrest in about 30 days. A hose and attic access revealed a copper tank linked to a waste pipe, allowing discreet dispensing of liquor. The cases were turned over to federal authorities.

Funeral draws many visitors for John Bishop's death

A large group from outside town attended the funeral of John Bishop on Monday. Among the guests were Alfred Stringer and wife of Provo, J Stringer and daughter of Ogden, J A Mecham and wife, Ezra I Alldredge, J A Luthy, Clifford Forsgreen, Frank Meek, L Larson and C Meek of Preston Idaho. Mrs John Bishop is staying with her sister in law Mrs Alex Adamson on West Fifty third South Street. Mrs John Bishop and sons Alfred and Vernon of Preston are visiting relatives here. They were summoned by the sudden death of Mr Bishop. Mrs William Lightfoot Jr., who had been visiting her mother Mrs Thomas Powell, left for Denver after several days here. Continued on last page.

Funeral Services for John R Bishop of Preston Idaho

Funeral services for John R Bishop of Preston Idaho were held Monday at the Murray First Ward Chapel. He died Saturday in a Salt Lake hospital after two months of illness. Speakers praised his character and service, with burial at Murray City Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Emily Stringer Bishop, three daughters, seven sisters, and thirty-two grandchildren.
