The Utah State Fair announces Europe's daring act Curran, a former navy man, will perform atop a tall swaying pole during the October 6 week. He performs outdoors on a platform high above, undisturbed by height or motion. The fair also features state horseshoe pitching with cash prizes, nightly fireworks, and harness races with top horses and generous purses.
An OCR fragment from Midvale documents a wedding reception for Miss Blanche Clover and her groom, varied social events, lectures, and community visits. Attendees include Mr and Mrs Jame Clover, Mrs Goldie Soffe, Mrs Clarence Sharp, and many local families. The Murray High Booster Club vows a bigger year with old members Marger Gaufin, Geneve Bennion, Wilma Peters, Erva Hobbs, Kathryn Walters, Viola Carlson, Ellen Anderson, Florence Tholmes, and officers Margaret Gaufin and Geneve Bennion. New members Marion Venison, Maude Forbes, Merle Uobba, Althey Snort, Brae Bene, Edith Miller, Margaret Cannegieter, Verna Berg, Edrie Reading, Echie Ana Louise Sehliigain, Marjory Malstrom, and Amy Rose joined after initiation. The group staged costume antics with goats wearing signs and dimeter hats, in a lighthearted effort to boost activities.
Murray City Fire Department held a banquet on September 20 at the Firemen's Hall to honor the racing team for past victories. Mayor Lester Judge Morgan and Judge Bringhurst praised the team. Captain Henry Smith led a lineup including Leo Townsend Hyrim Stauffer Axel Limberg and Frank Adalleon as firemen and friends attended in large numbers.
