A letter questions the Van Aren party oil and gas land leasing claim and alleges delay and misreporting by The Press. It notes that prospect wells were promised for Roland and nearby, but land buyers fear being precluded by others who await certainty before leasing.
Wew Bridges and J. W. Blackard, acting street commissioner since S. A. Goodman resigned, have been installing crossings and bridges. Funds were scarce, causing neglect, but trustees promise taxes will sustain repairs. The town is urged to adopt the Split-Log Road Drag to keep roads in good condition, as used in older states.
L. White of Stigler arrived in Muldrow to organize a lodge of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen. The fraternal order is described as a benefit and fraternal organization. White says he already has enough members to order a charter and will return home tonight. He appointed E. B. Rinker as local deputy for this county.
Fifteen month old Cloe Watts daughter of Mr and Mrs George Watts burned her face and hands after touching hot candy and rubbing it on her chin and mouth. She suffered intensely for several hours Wednesday in the family home.
Wyckliffe brothers found not guilty of Deputy Marshal Gilstrap’s murder by Judge Pitchford in Tahlequah. Demurrers argued the evidence failed to ID the defendants. jury directed to verdict of acquittal. Full-blood Cherokee defendants, sons of former Cherokee supreme court justice John Wyckliffe, had endured a long manhunt with federal deputies. After statehood one brother was killed. the other surrendered to sheriffs for a fair trial.
The Muldrow Comedy Company presented The Man from Borneo last Saturday night. The all local cast practiced a month and the performance pleased the audience. The Muldrow Orchestra contributed with special arrangements. Receipts totaled 24 dollars with net proceeds of 16 dollars.
By authority vested, I proclaim an election in Muldrow Sequoia county Oklahoma on the fourth Tuesday in April. Voters will choose Town Justice Town Marshal Town Clerk Treasurer Assessor and Trustees from wards 1 2 and 3. Dated March 1909.
The King Dramatic Company staged Alice Where Art Thou to general satisfaction last night at the opera house. Tonight they present the Ku Klux Klan and tomorrow night Rip Van Winkle. The eight member troupe comes well recommended.
A local review hails the Kin Dramatic Company as the best troupe to visit Muldrow in seasons. The Opera House management earns praise for securing such talent with the Southern stage set to close its engagement tonight.
Mrs Adda Norrid went to Fort Smith last Tuesday seeking relief after swallowing a pin that lodged low in her throat. For days it caused severe pain and left her voice near whisper. Dr Southard advised that removal via operation was doubtful and recommended leaving it unless trouble returns.
The red face hands and body of a Henrietta Pennsylvania boy named A. M. Adame suffered from eczema for five years. Attempts at remedies failed until Electric Bitters reportedly brought a cure, with references to eczema and blood disorders.
