A longtime farmer and former books keeper for Breedlove Bruton, he now leads Bruton Hardware and holds Odd Fellows, Mason, Woodman, and Farmers' Union ties.
The county would gain a strong candidate for county treasurer if Joe Goodman is nominated. The assessment notes honest character and broad acquaintance in the county as key strengths backing his potential renomination.
Charles W King of this place has announced as Republican candidate for county clerk. A Tennessee native from Meigs County, he studied at Grant University Athens and worked in Chattanooga and Texas before settling here thirteen years ago. John, impulsive yet absent minded, caused a humorous incident when an alarm clock mistaken for a telephone woke him at 2 30 a m, leading to a comical scramble with chairs a cat and barking shins.
