Funeral services for James C. Estes will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Chapel with Rev. Bird Green officiating. Burial follows at Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Estes, who lived at 1014 South 10th Street, died Thursday night at age 81. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the chapel.
Joseph Andary, 26, was jailed 15 days for driving without a license. After leaving the Wayne County jail with others, he returned hours later claiming he went home for a shave as a statewide search unfolded.
In Nicosia Cyprus four Britons including a woman were killed in rebel attacks on Friday. A fifth Briton died this morning from injuries suffered in an earlier assault.
The Admiralty announced that two Australian destroyers Friday bombarded rebel positions in Malaya. Rebel guerrillas have fought British rule since 1948 in the Malayan jungles.

Armed fugitive Homer Lewellen, 21, captured in Quincy after escaping a St. Louis County deputy. He was spotted in a stolen car. a loaded revolver was found but he offered no resistance. Lewellen, facing burglary and larceny charges, fled after overpowering a deputy sheriff and terrorizing a woman during a 20 minute ride. Quincy is his home town.
The Labor Department reported a drop of 52,600 in the number of workers unemployed at least a week and eligible for benefits for the week ended Sept 15. The total remained 1,020,900, still 233,700 above last year. Seasonal hiring and recalls in apparel and auto sectors were cited.
