29-year-old nurse Margaret Coleman of Marion Illinois faced a 17 count Williamson county grand jury indictment charging murder of her newborn daughter. The death date August 4 and birth date August 4 are listed among possible causes including strangulation and exposure. bail set at 20000 dollars as her husband hired counsel.

R and Mrs John Phillips of 233 Opdyke Avenue will quietly observe their 64th anniversary this Sunday October 1. Phillips is 84 and in poor health while Mrs Phillips is 80. They have 12 children, 10 living, plus 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

The Kiwanis Club met at Hotel Emmerson with Program Chairman Glen Dare presenting Mt. Vernon High School principal Art Milward and Coach Changnon. Milward praised the new vocational trades building, its diverse shops, and its role in guiding students toward trades and professional careers. Coach Changnon spoke on the Rams basketball title run, then a film followed. Guests included Russell Quinn and William Burnette.

Release Knetzer To Raise Money

Robert L. Knetzer, a bankrupt Edwardsville automobile dealer, was released from jail yesterday by Federal Judge Charles G. Briggle to raise funds for creditors. He was under guard by U. S. Marshal Robert Grant and had previously served time for contempt and for failing to account for $225,000 in assets. He faces fraud charges for not delivering new cars to customers who paid down payments.

Death of Former Mt. Vernon Teacher Genevieve Baker

Word arrived of the death of Mrs. Genevieve Baker, 78, a Mt. Vernon schoolteacher for 30 years. Born here, she taught 30 years in Mt. Vernon and Lake Worth, Florida, and lived in Biloxi, Mississippi the past year. Survivors include two sons, Willard Baker of Biloxi and Leslie Baker of Detroit.
