He married Anna McClain June 20 1898 and was a member of First Christian church Dix. Funeral Tuesday 230 pm at Waltonville Methodist with Rev Lester Pifer officiating. Burial Bald Hill cemetery. Body lies in state at Fry Funeral Home Waltonville after 5 pm today. Surviving Anna wife Archie son Mt Vernon teacher. daughters Harriet Schroeder Carbondale Floretta Lyons Mt Vernon. nine grandchildren ten great grandchildren. one brother William. Two sons a daughter one brother and two sisters preceded in death.

Auto Collision Sends Three to Hospital in McLeansboro
Three people were injured in a Sunday auto collision near McLeansboro. Thelma Smith, 15, suffered a fractured right arm and facial cuts at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Roger Graddy, 18, was treated for shock and released. Dewey G Statler, 24, an Air Force member at Carmi radar station, had a head injury and facial lacerations. Statler and Smith remained hospitalized this afternoon.

Freeburn Coal Mine Closes Permanently Near West Frankfort

Four applicants for Mt. Vernon city manager have been interviewed with two more expected this afternoon. Interviews started Saturday, continued Sunday and Monday morning at city hall.
