Truck and Car Collision Near Mt Vernon Route 148
A transport truck and a car collided on route 148 three miles south of Mt Vernon at 6 45 am today. No injuries were reported. The truck was driven by Earl Ellerton of Carbondale and the car by Margie Morgan of RFD 3 Mt Vernon. Deputy Sheriff Joe Lappin investigated noting heavy rear damage to the Morgan car while the truck sustained no damage.

Bloodmobile collects 280 pints in Jefferson county drive
A two day Bloodmobile visit to Jefferson county yielded 280 pints with 131 pints donated yesterday. The drive fell 20 pints short of the 300 pint goal. Blood program chairman Harry Walter thanked volunteers and sponsors including the Mouse Lodge Master Bread W-G Motors and local chambers for support. The next drive is set for November 28 and 29 at the Moose Lodge.
