Two Fire Calls In Mt Vernon Saturday
Mt Vernon fire department answered two calls on Saturday. At 3:40 p.m. firefighters doused an automobile fire at 19th Street and Perkins owned by J. M. Wilson. The car suffered heavy engine and wiring damage. At 7:25 p.m. they extinguished a fire at Mt Vernon Airport when a spark from a gasoline truck nozzle ignited fuel while an airport employee was refilling a tank. No damage estimate given.

Two Held For Theft Of Hens In Opdyke Case
David Pritchett and Larry Lusby face theft charges for stealing 15 white rock hens from Joe Lampp in Opdyke. Both men, ages 20, are jailed in Jefferson County on $1000 bond. The alleged theft occurred last Tuesday with Pritchett arrested Thursday and Lusby Saturday. The hens were valued at $18.75.

Accident on Richview Road Injures Driver
Larry D. Jackson, 24, of 904 Fairfield Road, sustained minor injuries when his car blew a tire and overturned at 6:30 a.m. on Richview Road near Boyd Road. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by Litton Ambulance, not hospitalized. Deputy Sheriff John Richardson said the left side of the car was heavily damaged.
