Tommy Hall joins Columbus Crew in Navy duty
Tommy Hall left for Brooklyn to join the cruiser U S S Columbus crew after volunteering for Navy duty on June 19. He trained at Great Lakes and completed training September 2, then was home on leave. His father Dick Hall served in World War II and his brother Clarence E Buddy Hall, 21, was sent to San Antonio for Air Force Officer Candidate School.

Harold Damron age 21 and Robert Wagener age 20, both of Mt. Vernon, enlisted in the U. S. Air Force this week and left yesterday for Lackland AFB, San Antonio Texas for basic training. Damron is the son of Mrs. Cletus Rector of 603 Salem Road and graduated Mt. Vernon High School in 1948. Wagener is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wagner of Fairfield Road and graduated Mt. Vernon High School in 1947.
