Death of 14 year old in McLeansboro ruled self inflicted gunshot
Leslie Pullam, a 14 year old resident of Broushton, was found dead near Muller Nursing Home in McLeansboro at 9 30 p m. Coroner Elmo Ghalson said the cause appeared to be gunshot wounds from a 22 caliber pistol found beside him. He had reportedly spoken yesterday of intending to take his own life. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Bean Tanner Funeral Home of Eldorado is in charge. The sole survivor is his aunt, Mrs Granville Fletcher of McLeansboro. Coroner Ghalson has set the inquest for 5 p m Friday.

Funeral services are 2 p m Saturday at Pulley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Bird Green officiating, burial at Mt Oval Cemetery. She was born August 8 1882 in Gibson County Indiana daughter of Zadock and Nancy McCleary. On September 16 1933 she married John H. Beck who survives alongside two stepsons one stepdaughter a sister and several siblings.

He was a member of Modern Woodmen.

Crossbow Used To Shoot Man In L A Mystery
In Los Angeles a liquor store clerk, William E. Allen, 20, was hit in the back by a 16 inch steel tipped hunting arrow fired from a crossbow through an open rear door and is in critical condition. Allen staggered to a passerby and George Derenia, 22, removed the arrow causing severe bleeding. Harrisburg Illinois Sheriff William T. Barrett announced that a skeleton found in a Saline County creek bed is tentatively identified as James Allen of Galatia. Seven foreign coins found in clothing aided the identification, with Allen previously living as a recluse and released from Vandalia state farm in April.
