Foreman Dies At Waltonville Mine Monday
James N. Stearns aged 61 a foreman at the Waltonville mine died suddenly of an apparent heart attack yesterday afternoon after noon while working in the mine. He resided on Route 1 Harrisburg and his death came shortly after 1 p.m. The mine closed for the day and work resumed today. The body went to Miller Funeral Home Carrier Mills with funeral arrangements pending. Known as Jim he had worked at Waltonville for seven years and belonged to Masonic Lodge Galatia Consistory Shrine East St. Louis. He is survived by his wife Romaine three stepchildren William R. Strange two Chicago residents Mrs John Jack of Chicago Mrs Dave Haden of Tacoma Wash a brother John Stearns Route 2 Harrisburg and 13 grandchildren.
