City Bus Damaged By Wiring Short
At 6 25 a m firefighters were summoned to 19th and Logan where a Mt Vernon Transit Line bus caught fire near the motor due to defective wiring. The fire damaged the wiring and the bus was taken off the run with another vehicle substituted.

Grover Peterson, 59, a former Mt. Vernon resident and World War I veteran, died yesterday in a Veterans hospital in Des Moines. The body will be returned to Mt. Vernon for burial. arrangements are incomplete. He worked as a cook at a state hospital in Cherokee and was the son of Thomas T. and Sarah Peterson. Surviving are a son, a daughter, two brothers JS and Charles Peterson of Elk Prairie Township, a sister Mrs. Martha rk of Benton, and two grandchildren.
