Three miners die in burning Danner mine sealing fire
At Morgan Mining Co. near Bethesda Ohio rescue efforts for three missing miners ended as the coal mine was sealed to halt a fire that claimed the men. The victims Tom Terretti William Adams and Keith Spicer were declared dead after rescue attempts failed and a foam machine and augers could not reach them. Separately in Pottsville Pennsylvania three Lengel Coal Co. workers died when a roof collapsed. Jefferson County businessmen toured the Sherwood Danner farm in McClellan township seeing a 480 acre beef and hog operation with 170 acres rented and a 33 cow herd and 200 pounds fertilizer per year for pasture.
