SIU Offers Dairy Classes To Dahlgren Area Farmers
SIU dairy specialist Howard Olson will teach a six week night class in dairying for Dahlgren area farmers at Dahlgren high school starting Thursday Sept 22 at 730 pm. The no fee course is a joint project of SIU School of Agriculture SIU Division of Technical and Adult Education and the Dahlgren high school. Robert Irwin of Dahlgren is in charge of local arrangements. Olson joined SIU in 1954 after work with Curtiss Candy Farms and dairy experience in Wisconsin. He earned a PhD from Minnesota in 1952 and a MS from Minnesota earlier. he is married with a daughter and also conducts dairy herd research at SIU.

Two ICC examiners recommended that 11 railroads buy the 345 mile Illinois Terminal Railroad for 20,015,635 dollars. Woman plummets from hotel window into cocktail lounge
Miss Mary H. Merkle of Cleveland, about 27, leapt or fell from a hotel suite window at the Biltmore in New York, crashing through the palm court glass and injuring Daymond W. Copeland and others.
