Whitlock Dies Recalled Minister and Ex-District Leader
Omer F. Whitlock, 74, longtime Methodist minister and former Southern Illinois Conference district superintendent, died at 4:00 am at his Alton home. He was born near Dix on January 1, 1894 and served pastorates across the region before retiring two years ago. He is survived by his wife Hazel, son Richard of Elgin, daughter Mrs. Phillip Jones of Alton, brother H. A. Whitlock of Dix, and several nieces and nephews in Mt. Vernon, Dix, and Belle Fourche. Funeral arrangements are pending with services planned in Alton on Monday. final details to be announced tomorrow.
