Daniel Summers 76 a miner and farmer died at 11 15 a m yesterday at his Ina home after months of illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 00 p m in Ina with Rev W R Burton of Whittington officiating and burial in Kirk cemetery. He was born January 3 1874 in Logan county Kentucky, son of Daniel Summers Sr. and Dona Ann Malone Summers. Surviving: his wife Isabelle Smith, three sons Leonard Ina, Raymond San Diego CA, Linzie Rockford IL. six daughters Minnie Simpkins, Rosa Bell Swanner Bush IL, Birdie Venich East St Louis, Bessie Fawell West Plains MO, Lena Ferrer San Diego CA, Anna McHarge Pittsburgh PA. a brother William Summers Carbondale. three sisters Bertha Campbell Owensville IN, Grace Stevens, Alice Shaw Popular Bluff. 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. He settled on the S E Brown farm 25 years ago, moving to Ina from Ziegler.

Mrs Doshia Davis 71 died at 7 30 this morning at her Dodds township home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 00 pm at Bakerville church with Rev Marsh Harpoole officiating. burial in Cub Prairie cemetery. The body will lie in state at Sanders and Grigg Funeral Home from 6 00 pm today until the service. Survived by three sons Raymond Walter and Ivan all of Mt Vernon.

Prisoner escapes to test self sufficiency faces return
Gunther Brandt, 26, a life term killer, walked out of San Quentin to see if he could live in society. After about nine hours he surrendered at a San Francisco police station saying the answer is no. He had been studying philosophy and German in a UC extension course and described life in confinement as maturing him. He left the tractor, hiked toward San Rafael, rode a bus, bought a jacket, and returned when cold.

40 Men Dig To Save Toddler In Well Unharmed
In Rainier Oregon, 40 townsmen dug in relays to rescue 15 month old Ronald Mysinger after he fell 12 feet into an abandoned 20 foot well. Dr M A Kenney supplied oxygen while workers dug a parallel shaft and the boy slept exhausted after the ordeal. Parents Mr and Mrs V M Mysinger watched as rescuers freed him from a bucket in the dry shaft.

Seven alleged spies sentenced in Yugoslavia
A district court in NIS Yugoslavia on September 13 sentenced seven alleged Cominform spies to hard labor terms from 10 to 20 years. The defendants, Yugoslav born, fled to Bulgaria after opposing Premier Marshal Tito and were trained for espionage before being sent back by Cominform.

Says Injury Caused Crime Gets $10,000
In Cleveland a jury awarded David Allen, a 50 year old roofer, $10,000 claiming a brain injury from a 1945 truck accident caused him to commit a crime. Allen sought $100,000 from Goff Kirby Co. His attorney argued the injury affected his personality and influenced his actions after a prior probation.

Wabash Freight Derails Near Mansfield Damages Cars
The Wabash railroad reported 17 cars left tracks in a derailment near Mansfield Illinois with a gasoline tank car and two or three other cars burning. Cause was undetermined as tracks between Decatur and Chicago were blocked. Rerouted trains moved over Illinois Central lines while tracks were cleared by 6 p.m. CST. The second freight car behind the locomotive jumped the rails. no other severe damage reported. The train was traveling from Decatur to Chicago.
