A long list of Centralia area residents, club members and friends are reported back from visits in Decatur Wheaton Chicago Capitola St. Louis and elsewhere. Trips include students returning to Centralia Township Junior Business College and William Woods College, hospital stays and attendance at baseball games and antique shows.
Mrs Luta Richardson announces the marriage of daughter Betty to Gene Boswell of Mt. Vernon. The ceremony was by Rev Andrew Carraker at First Baptist on September 4 with Pauline style decor. Guests and attendants named, reception at 611 South 21st Street, Bowling Green planned.
Ted Mathews of Owensboro Kentucky flew here yesterday. Dewey Holland and Earl Smith of the Olney Flying Service landed at the local field this morning. Ed Burke and Geen Sause of St. Louis landed here yesterday. W. S. Little of Mattoon Illinois flew here today to transact business.
Good Samaritan and Jefferson Memorial notes list admissions including Charles Ef Stanley Mrs Lucille Page and infant daughters Mrs Ruby Lane and Katherine Tuttle and others. Discharges include Ivor Patterson Richard Scott and several families with infants.
Mt Vernon Garden Club met Sept 10 at 2 PM with Mrs Fannie Wallace. A 1:30 PM board session preceded the business meeting, marking the club's tenth anniversary. Reports from committees included Soil Conservation Field Day notes and library flower arrangements. Officers elected for next year.
Friends and relatives joined Mr. and Mrs. Clark to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with gifts and flowers. They were married September 1, 1898 in Hamilton County at the Morlen home. Mrs. Clark, 67, is a member of the First General church. Mr. Clark, 86, is the son of Jacob and an extended family includes five children, 13 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Clarence Edward named for Dahlgren couple’s son born this morning at Good Samaritan. Williamson of 2225 Cherry St share a 7 lb 12 oz boy born 6 50 am today at Jefferson Memorial. Larry Eugene named for Lockeby couple after 1 34 pm Saturday birth at Jefferson Memorial. Roberta Gayle named for Young’s 11 15 pm Saturday daughter. Lloyd Mooney of Dix has a daughter born 12 45 pm Sunday. Robert Edmond Jr born 1 05 pm Sunday to Robert Howard of Bonnie. Lee Alan born 4 05 am today to George Booten. Jean Ellen born to Harvey Wells and Fern Beal. Richard Eugene is the Calumet City Crawford infant son reported to Ruth Lenon.
Elijah T Gibbs 84 of McLeansboro Hamilton county retired farmer died at his home Sunday after months of illness. Funeral services set for Tuesday 2 p m at Union Baptist church. Survived by eight children Alta Leng Amos Albert Earl Nora Gunter Angie Wallace Caris Marion. wife Frances Elizabeth Marsh Gibbs and two sons and a daughter preceded him in death. Burial in Union Cemetery.
Southern Illinois University offers Geography 319 Historical Geography of the United States starting at 7:00 PM at Casey Junior High School. The course grants two and two thirds semester hours credit.
Dewey Etheridge 50 of 1114 Welkin Street died 6 45 PM Saturday at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital He was born July 22 1898 in Jefferson County son of Hosea and Rosella Etheridge A World War I veteran he married Eunice Barbara Estes May 24 1918 She survives along with his mother two sons Herbert and Bobby Eleanor a daughter three brothers and two grandchildren Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Myers Chapel will hold the body for viewing.
Funeral services for Wilbert Eugene Payne twenty two were held at 2 30 p m at the Baptist church in Keenes with Rev Harold Mayberry officiating. Burial followed in Farnworth Payne a World War II veteran was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Chicago last Thursday. He was a son of Mrs Mary Payne of Keenes.
