Thirty-one members attended the Presbyterian Men’s Club gathering at the new church on Broadway for the first fiscal-year meeting. Ed Curtis presided. Leigh M. Mt Vernon man Hart four die in DeKalb crash
Walter Ruffner of Mt Vernon was injured Sunday in a head on crash near DeKalb Illinois. Four people died and ten were injured. The dead include William P Cogan 38 and his brother John 34 of Dubuque Iowa Lloyd Anderson 30 of Cedar Rapids and Victor Jocius 22 of Chicago. Jocius traveled with seven Chicago family members who were injured. The Cogans and Anderson were riding with Ruffner.

Charges of burglary and larceny were filed today against four youths after the Parkmore Grill on Salem Road was broken into early Sunday morning. Suspects Norman Lowell Troutt 19 Robert Beppler 18 Walter Mays 16 and Leroy R Allen 15 were arrested. Entry was gained by breaking a window. About $5 in cash and some cigarettes and gum were taken.
