Mrs Gertrude Mae Legg 86 of Sims died at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Sunday night. Funeral services set for Wednesday at Richardson Chapel Wayne City with Rev Oakley Miller officiating. Burial in Pin Oak cemetery. Survivors include two sons Herschel and Raymond a foster son Delbert Henson four daughters Goldie Richison Leona Miller Wanda Dickey and Lucille Miller a daughter in law Wilma Legg 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was born January 5 1887 in Wayne County and married George Legg in 1905 who died in 1964. She was a member of Sims Missionary Baptist church. Funeral plans and calling details available at the chapel.

River Search For Centralia Youth Missing After Boat Incident
Clinton county authorities scoured the Kaskaskia River south of Carlyle on Monday for Tom Schmitz 18 of rural Centralia who has been missing since leaving his father's riverside clubhouse in a motor boat around 3 am Sunday. The boat was found upright on the bank with the gas tank full but the motor not running. A sheriff's spokesman said he may have been knocked from the boat by a tree limb overhanging the river.

More than 300 Jefferson County Day tickets have been sold for the Busch Memorial Stadium game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday. The final allotment was snapped up by Monday, with 100 more ordered and to be claimed after noon Wednesday at the Chamber. Purchasers must have tickets by Friday, and about 130 passengers will travel aboard three air conditioned buses from the Chamber of Commerce, 1108 Main St., at 10 a.m. Sunday. A Cardinals representative will attend at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to assist reservations. Weather readings for Madison, South Bend, Paducah and Burlington are listed.
