Max Cornick Dies at 74 Civic Leader and Pioneer

Max Cornick, longtime Mt. Vernon civic leader and founder of Mt. Vernon Iron Company Liberty Petroleum and Tire Mark died at 74. A Russian immigrant born August 2 1895 in Odessa he came to America with 24 cents and built successful businesses across several states. He led the United Hebrew Temple Benton and was active in the Jewish Federation and B'nai B'rith roles. A funeral service was requested with flowers waivers noted.

The Rend Lake Association met in Benton and urged counties and towns in the Rend Lake area to pass zoning ordinances for land around the lake. No area counties have approved such ordinances yet. Mary Resheter of Buckner was named to fill a vacancy on a clubhouse site committee. Association president Howard Roberson of Inn reported 216 memberships sold since June. Fire In TV Star's Office Destroys Carson Space

Motorist Killed In Police Chase
