Waiting For HUD May Launch Neighborhood Program Here
The $5 million Neighborhood Development Program aims to revitalize a 40 block area on the southeast side. City Manager Ray Botch Jr said the HUD's legal department will finish the contract next Monday, enabling action after signing. A three member staff including an executive director relocation officer and rehabilitation officer would be hired. In June officials expect property acquisition street and utility improvements and park work to begin this year.

The Republican headquarters for Jefferson County will officially open tomorrow on the Mt. Vernon public square. GOP chairman Max Shurtz says coffee and doughnuts will be served during an open house starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. City Police Review Two Auto Crashes Within City
Investigators logged two automobile collisions in the city yesterday. At 9:48 a.m. near 12th and Jordan Streets, William G. Meador and Wilson R. Smith collided.
