One American dies in combat in Saigon last week

Man Injured When Hit By Auto Here
A 67-year-old Vernon man, Edgar Carter, was injured while crossing South 10th Street when struck by a car driven by Edward L. Stone. ILEC executive director Allen Andrews said an evaluation and audit of Franklin County's juvenile adjustment program will proceed with optional funding suspended during the probe. Two Utilities Fined For Polluting River
CHICAGO AP Commonwealth Edison Co and the Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Co were fined 2500 by the Illinois Pollution Control Board for an accidental diesel spill into the Mississippi River. The July 14 1971 spill at the Quad Cities Atomic Power Plant involved at least 150 gallons due to a malfunctioning valve. The firms were ordered to pay the fine to the Minors Fish and Game Fund after a complaint by Merlin Howe of Morrison.
