A two vehicle crash at 14th Street and Broadway left Joe Lesney and Edwin Wood II injured. Lesney 19 suffered head injuries and was in serious condition at Good Samaritan Hospital. Wood 20 was in fair condition with multiple injuries and charged with careless driving. Wood reportedly lost control while speeding on turn from 14th onto Broadway. Federal investigators probed a single engine Cessna Hawk crash at Cottonwood Airport in Rockford Illinois that killed 25 year old Pecatonica resident Barry White. Witnesses say the plane stalled after takeoff and dropped to the runway as three EAA pilots returned from DuPage County Airport. Cause remains undetermined.
