Mrs Elizabeth Mary Kaufman aged 94 died at her granddaughter Bernadine Karchers home in McLeansboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday at St Clement s Catholic church with Rev Timothy Foley officiating. Burial in St Johns cemetery at Propolis. Body at Gholson Funeral Home after 6 pm Thursday. Survived by son Emil Kaufman and daughter Olivia Frey both of McLeansboro, five other grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was born August 6, 1873 in Hamilton county. She was a member of St Clement s Altar Society.

Korean Miner Rescued After 15 Days Underground
Kim Chang-son, 35, was pulled from the Kubong gold mine 410 feet underground after more than two weeks. He walked, albeit unsteadily, and was described as in fair condition by doctors. His wife and four of five children greeted him as workers labored to free him through a narrow hole. He survived on water and wood bark while alone for 15 days eight hours. He was to be flown to Seoul for medical care, buttked that he was not properly dressed for the trip.
