The Independent Oil Producers and Land Owners Association Tri-State will hold its fall meeting tomorrow at Green Hills Country Club east of Mt. Vernon. The day features a 10 a.m. golf tournament, bridge for ladies, music by Egyptianaires, lunch at noon, a First Presbyterian church dinner, an evening address by Dr. George Benson of Harding College, and dancing to a 12 piece band. Flora Man Shot By Bodyguard of Estranged Wife
Flora County deputy reports Glen Scarlin 26 was shot in the abdomen during a confrontation at his estranged wife’s home near Flora. A neighbor, Al Clifton, fired a 38 revolver to protect Mrs Scarlin, injuring Mrs Gould, the mother in law. The couple had been married about six months and a divorce petition had been filed.
