A World War I Army veteran, he worked at Mitchell Field and is survived by Helen Mactane Modrow, three sons Elwood Clifford and Gary Lee, eight grandchildren, four sisters and other relatives. Funeral arrangements were handled by Krause and Bluford Funeral Homes with burial at Wisconsin Memorial Cemetery. Modrow was born in Oconto on October 19, 1895 to Fred and Anna Modrow.

Chicago Girl Beaten To Death In Park
A teenage visitor from England identified as Judith Betterley was beaten to death in Grant Park Chicago near a lakefront area where a Chicago couple was attacked two days earlier. A witness described a black man in his 30s dragging the girl toward bushes, then beating her with a stick before fleeing. Police found her nude, with massive head wounds.
