MACOMB Sept 4 The Willers plan to sell six milk cows five calves and four hogs to recover from a fire spree blamed on their 13 year old niece Wenet McNeil who said she set the blazes hoping to be sent to live with her mother. The boy’s life on the Willey farm ends as he faces losing feed and shelter with a $900 mortgage to be paid from $1800 insurance. Wenet, examined by psychiatrists, is living with her maternal grandmother near Marseilles while authorities decide her fate.

Oldest Resident Of County Dies
R N Allen died last Saturday August 28 at his son Sam Allen's home in Les ser Jefferson county losing its oldest resident and the Register-News oldest subscriber. He was 96 years 6 months 21 days, had lived in Bald Hill township 82 years and belonged to the Methodist church for 86 years. Born February 7 1852 in Meigs County Tennessee he moved to Jefferson county at age fourteen. He was one of thirteen children and a lifelong Republican who never voted outside Bald Hill precinct. His son recalls his father as the oldest subscriber to Mt Vernon newspaper and faithful reader of the Mt Vernon News then the Register-News.

Former Resident Dies in St. Louis
Mrs. Lillie Dean, 74, a Mt. Vernon native, died at 7:45 a.m. today at her St. Louis home. She was the daughter of the late Henry Stephen and his wife. She was married to Leslie Dean, who preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Leslie Jr. of Norfolk, VA, John of Mt. Vernon, and Ancet of Cheago. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

Funeral services for John Henry Richards aged 64 will be held Monday at 2 00 p m at East Salem church with the Rev Chester Chilton officiating. Burial will follow in Atkinson cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call. Richards was a farmer who died at 1240 p m yesterday at his home in Mt Vernon township.
