Mt Vernon man Maurice Miller twenty of 301 South 15th Street was shot in the back while in a car owned by Carolyn Tolbert at 702 Conger Avenue and remained in serious condition at Good Samaritan Hospital. A nineteen year old Mt Vernon man was jailed on a disturbance charge and held without bond as police investigated.
