Opdyke Man Injured in Route 460 Sideswipe Accident
Clyde Jones of Opdyke, 23, suffered a compound fracture of his left arm and shoulder when an automobile and a truck sideswiped on U S Route 460 about a mile east of Ashley at 10 45 last night. Delbert Martin of Belle Rive and Robert Hayes of Mt Vernon were slightly injured. Jones was taken to St Marys Hospital in Centralia and reported as doing well. State Patrolman Howard Greathouse investigated. the automobile was heavily damaged while the truck sustained little damage.

Rainfall was below normal for the second straight year, totaling 1.90 inches against a 3.65 inch average, with only one day over an inch and five light showers after the third.
