Two Herrin Homes Burn After Blast
An unexplained blast and fire destroyed two houses and damaged a third in Herrin Illinois. Sam Russo owner of the three houses estimated losses over 18000 dollars. Across from Russo's Tavern where Fony Armes was ambushed in September the blast occurred in an empty house being cleaned for Russo to move in. Lewis Rolando said the blast threw him from bed in the second house and Mr and Mrs William Hulsey reported being awakened by the blast in the third house.
