She was born December 13 1926 in Mt Vernon to Ross and Oma Brown and was a Park Avenue Baptist member employed at Uncle Charlie’s Sausage. Survived by one daughter Debra Kay Carey and her parents.

Three Area Accidents Reported Over The Holiday

Three major auto accidents were reported in the Mt. Vernon area over the holiday. Brenda Martin, 17, of Opdyke was driven through a bridge railing by an unknown car at the Tolle Road and Jaycee Lake Road intersection at 11 10 p m Friday, with over $100 damage to her car. Kathryn Land, 57, of St Louis, and Clyde R Skinner, 69, of 1701 south 12th street, collided at 12th street and Broadway at 6 35 p m Thursday, with over $100 damage to both cars and Land charged with failure to yield right of way. Richard D Hunt, 16, of 2400 Pace, struck a parked car owned by Sally E Bagby in the 300 block of Main at 9 10 a m yesterday, with both cars over $100 damage.

Holiday Vandalism Reports Spur Mt Vernon Police

Over Memorial Day police logged several vandalism incidents. Indian Hills Golf Course owner Tom Puckett reported real estate signs placed on greens and missing flagsticks. Eggs were thrown at a trailer on Wilshire and Lambert. Bob OBrien reported yard light and for sale sign damage. A car was spray painted at 10th and Lamar and a car was damaged on Thursday evening by paint.

Arrest Youths Inside Cafe

Two Mt. Vernon youths aged 18 and 19 were arrested inside Jones cafe at 1125 South Ninth Street after police found a broken front window and a forced door at 12:15 a.m. Friday. Eddie L. Taylor and Curley Robinson were charged with burglary and placed in county jail. Two coin machines were broken into but no money was taken. Bond not set.

Little League Stand Burglary Hits concession goods

thieves broke into the Little League concession stand Thursday night and stole eight to ten soda cases from the cooler. Everett Thompson reported the entry by door and east window at 8 10 p.m. Friday. A separate report from Tom Sweetin at 1 34 a.m. Friday noted a theft from his car at the Ramada Inn lot, with a man chased toward West Salem church.

Five locals of the State Em ployes union picketed Governor Ogilvie in southern Illinois yesterday protesting the firing of four women at the Mt. Vernon State TB Sanitarium Local 1754 Mt.
