Deaths Reach Family Of Local Pair In Titusville

Mr and Mrs Alvin Jones of this city received word of the death of Mrs Fred Caldwell of Titusville Pa. She died there on Thursday May 23 after a five day illness. She is the mother in law of Byad Bud Jones, son of the Joneses formerly of this city and now in Titusville. Her daughter Ms Imogene Jones has visited here often and has many friends in this city.

J. R. Bridwell Rites Tomorrow

J R Bridwell died at Me Leansboro Sunday night after a month long illness. He leaves two sons Frank of Allentown PA and Raleigh of East St Louis with whom he resided for seven years. Also a brother John C Bridwell died last January. Funeral at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home Mc Leansboro. Bridwell was an uncle of Mrs G O Lovan of Mt Vernon.

Aunt Of Mt. V. Resident Dies

Mrs. Flora McGill of 610 Bell has been notified of the death of her aunt Mrs. Fannie McClure a former resident. McClure 77 died Sunday in Toledo Ohio widow of James McClure whom she married in Mt. Vernon. She leaves four daughters and three sons.

Keeping Office Open Late For Taxpayers

County Treasurer Kenneth Randall extends hours this week to aid taxpayers. The office in the courthouse will be open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. today tomorrow and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Regular hours are 4:00 p.m. weekdays and noon Saturdays. Saturday June 1 is the final day to pay the first installment of 1956 real estate taxes and all personal taxes to avoid interest penalties.

Illinois Crude Production Drops in May Week

Daily average crude oil and condensate fell 55 550 barrels to 7 429 900 for the week ended May 25 the Oil and Gas Journal survey showed Oklahoma led the decline slipping 29 200 to 607 hi and Kansas down 18 900 to 341 Illinois output slipped to 223 300 barrels with other declines noted and 1957 production estimated at 1 101 208 575 barrels versus 1 048 840 636 a year earlier.

Leo Morgan Nominated Legion Chief at Jefferson Post

Leo Morgan was nominated as commander of Jefferson Post 141, American Legion, at a regular meeting held at the Legion Home. Named by the nominating committee were Bobbie Wilson as senior vice commander, Paul Horton as junior vice commander, Gene Davis as finance officer, Roy VanHorn as chaplain, John Albright as sergeant at arms, and Eugene Morrow as historian. Legion officers will be elected June 10.

Harvey Hungate, a 17 year old patient from Good Samaritan hospital after a weekend auto accident, has been moved to St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis. He is in room 4307 and was scheduled for surgery this morning with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hungate accompanying him.
