Mr Shehorn born March 9 1903 in Fairfield to John Andrew and Inez Potter Shehorn. Survived by widow Mary E Peterson six stepsons three stepdaughters two sisters an aunt and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was member of Meadowbrook Christian Church and Moose and Eagles lodges in Mt Vernon.

Experienced teachers in Mt. Vernon city schools will receive pay hikes for the next year after the District 80 Board approved a new schedule by a 90 to 5 vote. The plan raises salaries across levels, with 2.55 percent for a year two teacher with a BA up to 5.75 percent for an 18-year veteran with a Master’s and 48 extra hours. The district says the changes will help balance the budget, though some staffing reductions may occur via nonreplacement rather than layoffs. Additional raises were approved for other district staff and new pay scales set for cafeteria workers, custodial and maintenance staff, administrators, and student workers.

Two Mt Vernon Traffic Crashes Reported by Police
City police said two traffic accidents occurred in Mt Vernon on Wednesday. At 3:15 p.m. Ida B Porter 70 of 1702 Franklin Ave and Veneta C Squibb 58 of 328 S 4th St collided on the 200 block of South 8th Street. Squibb’s car sustained major damage and Porter’s minor damage. Porter faced a charge for backing without due caution. At 9:45 p.m. James A Keele 17 of Route 5 struck a parked car owned by Linnie L Cheshier on the corner of 16th Street and Casey Avenue. The parked car had major damage. Keele’s car had minor damage.
