Bugged Eagle Miniature Radio Station Exposed

Washington reports government experts say a tiny device hidden in the Great Seal of the United States eagle acted as an independent miniature broadcasting station. The two feet wide seal concealed a self contained resonator that received and transmitted voice with no wires or batteries. The Alsop brothers disclosed the discovery in 1955 noting the spear of Soviet ingenuity traces to a 1945 American patent.

Central Intelligence Agency official stabbed in Washington

James Pembroke, 42, an administrative assistant at the CIA, was stabbed and beaten early today after meeting a man at a cocktail lounge Thursday night. He described a late-night bar visit and a drive to visit a friend before the assault. Police pursue a 22-year-old Black man. wallet and hunting knife found near the scene.

CHICAGO AP The first warm weather long weekend of 1960 drew millions to the roads. The National Safety Council estimated nearly all of the nation’s 73 million automobiles would be in use from 8 p.m. today to midnight Monday. The council warned that extreme care could prevent as many as 375 deaths in crashes over the 78 hours, compared with 310 deaths in a similar nonholiday weekend.
