Lester O York a 53 year old McLeansboro businessman died at a Marion Buick dealers meeting from an apparent heart attack. He served as an alderman 1948 to 1965 and was a former Democrat precinct committeeman. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Friday at St Clements McLeansboro. Burial in St Clements Cemetery with Rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday at Donelson Funeral Home. Heiress and former FDR Jr wife found dead in Michigan

An inquest was set for today into the death of Mrs. Ethel Du Pont Roosevelt Warren 49 heiress and former wife of Franklin D Roosevelt Jr found hanged in a bathroom at her Grosse Pointe Farms home. Police said suicide and a maid noted her disconsolate mood. She leaves two sons by Roosevelt and a son by her second marriage and had been awaiting her son Christopher Du Pont Roosevelt's June marriage to Rosamund Havemeyer. Burial is in Wilmington.

Americans Ambushed Near Da Nang By Off Course Jets

Investigations continue into four planes that attacked a South Vietnamese army post near the border with North Vietnam on Tuesday. U S military spokesmen and Da Nang’s Vietnamese commander labeled the planes as Communist MIGs, but Saigon authorities said the jets were American and had veered off course. Five Vietnamese were wounded in the raid.

Lake is completed and water will be pumped from the Big Muddy River into a temporary impoundment and then to a treatment plant northwest of Benton. When the lake is completed the temporary impoundment will be submerged and the system will draw water directly from the lake. Plan State Park projects include Bend Lake shores with docks and camping as part of a broad fish and wildlife program in Milinois. Illinois will control water levels in upper reaches to support conservation in Jefferson County.

Rural School Burglarized Near Mt. Vernon

A box with petty cash was stolen from Camp Ground school east of Mt. Vernon after it was locked at 3 p.m. yesterday and found open at 7 a.m. today. Sheriff Dewey Barton said a front door glass was broken to reach a latch. Calvin Williams, a school director, said the amount missing could not be determined.
