Deaths Paul R Neabuhr 44 Irvington Resident Dies

Paul Riley Neabuhr 44 a resident of Irvington died suddenly at his home Friday. His funeral is set for 1 30 p m Sunday at Boggs Funeral Home Centralia with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery Centralia. He was a bachelor and lived with his parents Mr and Mrs Amos Neabuhr. Surviving are two brothers Williams Ashley and Marion Irvington and two sisters Mrs Herbert Eastman Inchview and Mrs Ile Ziegler Belleville. The body will lie in state at Boggs Funeral Home.

Vandals Attack Car Top and Lodge Costumes

Two vandalism and theft reports were made in Mt. Vernon. David Hawkins of 1001 Centralia Road said someone slashed and turned the top of his convertible in the 1100 block of Oakland Avenue, making four long cuts. Police were told vandals entered the Odd Fellows lodge at 100 North Tenth and stole costume jewelry after destroying lodge costumes.

Infant Born After Mother's Death Dies in Chicago

In Chicago a baby delivered by Caesarean section five minutes after his mother died from injuries in a traffic accident. The two day old infant Norman Steinert died of respiratory failure after being kept in an incubator since Wednesday. The mother Irma Steinert, 19, was struck Tuesday night and another woman Lillian Stein, 22, was killed but saved the baby. Doctor Maurice V. Puckey, 75, faces charges of reckless homicide.

Slayer Of Chicago Cop Identified After Fatal Shootout

Police said a hitchhiker who shot and killed Officer Robert E. Burke and then killed himself Thursday night is Ronald G. Fletcher, 29, with California addresses. Identification came via FBI fingerprint files. A coroner's inquest ruled both deaths as murder and death by own action. Fletcher enlisted in the Army in 1947 and sought a Los Angeles civil service job in 1949. A money order stub bearing a San Francisco address was found on his body.

33,000 Troops Keep Order In Formosa

Rioters attacked the U.S. embassy in Formosa injuring several Americans and damaging property. They smashed windows tore down a flag and ransacked offices while Nationalist troops arrived with armored cars to restore order.

Two Killed On Railroad Crossing Near Peoria

Two men died in a Friday night crash near Peoria when Barnewolt 25 of Peoria collided with a Chicago and North Western train at a Route 8 crossing. Joyce Crowe 19 of Crewe Coeur also died in the accident.
