James Murphy 79 of Route 5 Mt. Vernon died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital. A mechanical engineer, he worked for Mt. Vernon Car Co J P Devine Co and retired 12 years ago from Vac U Lift Co in Salem. Born June 7 1895 in Alto Pass he was a WWI veteran and member of multiple veterans groups. Survived by wife Lorene a daughter and several grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday 2 p.m. at Myers Chapel with Oakwood Cemetery burial.

Edna Garner, 88, of Route 6, died at 4 25 p m Monday. A retired ward attendant, she was born Oct 6 1886 in Kankakee, daughter of John T and Rosella McCauley. She married Claude W Garner on Aug 24 1919. he died Jan 13 1970. Survivors include son Virgil W Garner of Elizabethtown, three granddaughters and five great grandchildren. Burial and services held at Myers Chapel with Rev Marvin W Friesner officiating. Burial will be in the funeral home after 6 p m Wednesday. She was a member of multiple clubs and the Community Church at Medical Lake Washington.
