Mrs. Helen Hunt learned her father Harry Brown died at his Alton home early today. The Johnson Funeral Home in Herrin will conduct Tuesday services with burial in Monmouth Cemetery. He is survived by another daughter Mrs. Vivian Weber of Juliet, a son Brown of Hurst Texas, one grandchild and three great grandchildren.

Graduation plans at Dahlgren grade and high schools were announced today. High school baccalaureate services will be held tomorrow and commencement exercises for the high school on Friday May 26. Grade school commencement will be Wednesday May 24.

Fined Twice For Reckless Driving Sammy Toney

Sammy Lee Toney, 17, of 800 south 18th street, was assessed two fines of 325 and costs by Police Magistrate Sherman Bullock for reckless driving. A Greyhound bus driver said someone in Toney's car nearly caused a wreck on U. S. Highway 460 west of town, and another motorist reported a near collision in the same area.

Beer Bottle Injury Leads to Arrest After Fight

Ben Stuckey a 32 year old resident of 1409 south 11th street was struck in the head by a beer bottle during an altercation at Sportsman's Tavern on south Tenth street and treated for a cut above the eye at Good Samaritan Hospital before release. Police charged Early Miller, 27 of 907 south Ninth, with hitting Stuckey and booked him on disturbance by fighting.

Rend Lake Conservancy District trustees re elected John Douglas of Benton president and C J Covington of Mt Vernon secretary at the Benton Rend Lake office meeting. James Simon age 18 of Belvidere died when his car left U S 20 two miles north of Belvidere and struck a culvert in the early hours. No other injuries reported. An AP dispatch notes Belvidere authorities were investigating the crash.
