Three Democratic contenders for judge seats visited Mt Vernon district on a pre election tour. W Joe Hill Benton, seeking the Supreme Court first district seat, Guy McGaughey Jr Lawrenceville and Joseph T Scott Grayville seek circuit judge posts in the second circuit. Leonard J Dunn West Frankfort the third Democratic candidate remained touring other counties. The election is set for June 4. Hill lists Benton and Mt Vernon offices. 87-Year-Old Man Found Guilty In Shooting Case
An 87-year-old man, Harry Beadle, was found guilty by a county court jury of assault with a deadly weapon for firing a shot that wounded Oral L. Telford in the hand as he plowed land with a tractor in northwest Jefferson county on May 4. The jury set a $100 final bond and six months in jail.
